Compassion in Fertility: Why It’s Not About Selling, But Supporting

October 05, 20246 min read

Today, something unexpected happened that made me pause and reflect on the emotional complexity of fertility health coaching. I received a direct message from a woman, and her words were filled with hurt and frustration: “Do you have any idea how awful it feels to be targeted to be sold at for having infertility?! Please please stop!!!! This is just awful of you to do!! Do not make your money on the backs of those suffering on social media. It’s unacceptable.”

As someone who has dedicated my life to helping women through their fertility journey and beyond, these words trulystung. Not because of what was said but because of the pain I could feel behind them. Her response was rooted in something far more profound than a misunderstanding—it was a reflection of the emotional toll that infertility can take.

Misunderstandings in a Time of Vulnerability

I want to be fully transparent about the context of this interaction. Months ago, this woman reached out to me after engaging with a comment I made on a post. She asked for more information about my fertility protocol as she was preparing for IVF, and I gladly provided it. Recently, I followed up with specific advice about digestive enzymes and offered a complimentary sample, which I recommend to my clients to help prepare the body for conception.

However, this time, her response was very different. Rather than seeing the helpful advice I had intended, she felt targeted—like I was trying to “sell” her something or exploit her vulnerability.

My immediate reaction was one of confusion because I would never cold-message or pressure anyone, and I was gifting her the information we had previously discussed at her request. However, I realized that her feelings were valid, even if they stemmed from a misunderstanding, and I apologized for any discomfort caused.

This experience opened my eyes to something I already knew: infertility is an incredibly sensitive and emotional subject. Every interaction, no matter how well-meaning, can sometimes feel like a reminder of the struggles a woman is going through. This is something I, as a fertility health coach, need to approach with the utmost care and compassion.

Fertility Health Coaching: It’s About Support, Not Selling

At Elevate Maternity, my mission is simple: to help women prepare their bodies and minds for conception in a way that honors their unique journey. Fertility health coaching is never about selling products or programs—it’s about offering support, education, and resources to make this incredibly challenging time a little easier.

So, what does a fertility health coach do?

My role is to guide women through the often confusing and overwhelming process of preparing for conception. Whether trying to conceive naturally or preparing for medical interventions like IVF, I work with them to optimize their health holistically. This could mean improving nutrition, balancing hormones, reducing stress, or using specific supplements to support the body’s natural processes.

However, perhaps the most essential part of my job is being there to listen and provide emotional support. Fertility is deeply personal, and no two journeys are the same. Having someone in your corner who understands this, can offer advice without judgment, and will walk with you through the ups and downs is crucial. That’s what fertility health coaching is truly about—being a source of guidance and support, not just for the physical aspects of fertility but also for the emotional ones.

Why Preparing the Body for Conception Matters

One key aspect of fertility health coaching is helping women prepare their bodies for conception. This isn’t about trying to sell a “miracle cure” or making grand promises. It’s about supporting the body to function at its best so that when the time is right—whether through natural conception or IVF—the chances of success are optimized.

Here are a few essential reasons why preparing the body for conception is crucial:

Boosting Fertility Naturally

Many women I work with come to me after months, or even years, of trying to conceive. They’re often exhausted by the process and unsure what to try next. By focusing on things like nutrition, stress reduction, and hormonal balance, we can improve the body’s natural fertility. The goal is to create an internal environment where conception is more likely to happen, giving women a sense of control and empowerment during an overwhelming time.

Supporting IVF and Medical Interventions

For those who are preparing for IVF, fertility coaching can play a critical role in ensuring that the body is ready to undergo these procedures. While IVF is a fantastic technology, it’s also incredibly taxing on the body. By preparing with proper nutrition, supplements like digestive enzymes, and stress management techniques, we can improve the body’s response to IVF and potentially increase the chances of a successful pregnancy.

Minimizing the Pain of Failed Pregnancies

No one can guarantee that every pregnancy journey will result in a baby. However, by preparing the body through targeted health and wellness strategies, we can minimize some of the pain that comes with failed pregnancies. When a woman knows she’s done everything possible to prepare her body for conception, it can provide peace of mind—even in the face of setbacks.

Reducing Stress and Anxiety

The emotional toll of infertility can be overwhelming. As a fertility health coach, I help women manage those emotions by offering strategies for reducing stress and maintaining mental well-being during this often long and challenging journey. Through mindfulness techniques, breathing exercises, and regular check-ins, we can support the body and the emotional heart of every woman I work with.

Elevate Maternity’s Mission: Compassion, Support, and Empowerment

At Elevate Maternity, the heart of my work isn’t selling products or programs—it’s supporting women through one of the most intimate, challenging, and rewarding experiences of their lives: becoming a mother. Every woman’s fertility journey is different, and I believe each deserves the highest level of care, attention, and compassion.

My K.I.S.S. Framework (Kickstart Assessment, Individualized Plan Creation, Sustained Implementation, Support and Accountability, Success Evaluation, and Next Steps) offers a holistic approach designed to support women wherever they are in their fertility journey. Whether a woman is preparing her body for conception, going through IVF, or looking for support during pregnancy and postpartum, the focus is always on optimizing health in a sustainable, compassionate way.

Understanding the Sensitivity of Infertility

Infertility touches many women’s lives in deeply personal ways. That’s why it’s so important for anyone in the fertility field—whether coaches, doctors, or friends—to approach it with the utmost care and empathy. Each interaction matters, and each conversation has the potential to either uplift or hurt.

Why Fertility Support Isn’t About “Selling”

For those unfamiliar with fertility health coaching, there may be misconceptions about its purpose. Fertility coaching is not about pushing products; it’s about giving women the tools and resources they need to enhance their health and increase their chances of conception. Here’s why fertility coaching can be beneficial:

• Personalized Support

Every woman’s body and fertility journey is unique. A fertility health coach tailors the plan to her needs, whether through nutrition, supplements, lifestyle changes, or emotional support.

• Holistic Approach

It’s not just about biology. Fertility coaching connects the mind, body, and spirit, offering solutions beyond medical treatments.

• Reducing Pressure

A fertility coach alleviates some of the emotional and mental pressure, offering a non-judgmental space to focus on what women can control.

Final Thoughts: Fertility Coaching Is About Care, Not Profit

Today’s interaction was a reminder that the journey to motherhood is deeply personal. At Elevate Maternity, we treatevery woman’s experience with respect, compassion, and care. Fertility health coaching is about standing beside women during their fertility journey and offering genuine support.

Let’s work together to create the best possible path forward for you—one that honors your body supports your goals, and empowers you to thrive on your journey to motherhood.
